On May 15, TGF-β Signaling and Diseases Symposium was held successfully in Zijingang Campus, Zhejiang University.
Dr. Xin-Hua Feng, Director of Life Sciences Institute (LSI) of Zhejiang University also Chairman of the Symposium, presided over the opening ceremony. Executive Vice President of Zhejiang University Yonghua Song addressed the audience. He also expressed his warm welcome to the arrival of a dozen domestic and overseas well-known scholars, and wished the symposium a complete success.
Then, "Chang Jiang Scholars" Chair Professor Award Ceremony was held. By the recommendation of Zhejiang University, Prof. Peter ten Dijke from Leiden University Medical Center based on the supporting unit of LSI, was successfully selected as one of the "Chang Jiang Scholars" by the Ministry of Education. Executive Vice President Yonghua Song issued Prof. ten Dijke the certificate of appointment and the University badge.
After the award ceremony, about a dozen of top international scholars in the field of TGF-β, like Dr. Rik Derynck from Institute of Regeneration Medicine, University of California San Francisco, made wonderful speeches on the latest progress of TGF-β signaling and disease research, and conducted a lively discussion and exchange on the front issues and development trend of this field.
The moderators of the symposium, LSI Prof. Pinglong Xu and Prof. Long Zhang presented crystal plaques to the speakers for their wonderful lectures and outstanding scientific achievements.
The symposium was the very authoritative and high-level conference in the TGF-β field, whose topic related to TGF-β signaling mechanism, epigenetics, cancer, immune regulation, the development of tissues and organs, and new drug development.
The audience consisted of faculty and graduate and undergraduate students were immersed in the academic feast of TGF-β signaling and disease. At night-fall, the TGF-β signaling and Disease Symposium organized by the life sciences Institute of Zhejiang University, Innovation Center for Cell Signaling Network, and Signal Transduction Branch, Chinese Society of Cell Biology was concluded successfully.
