On May 6-8, Director Xin-Hua Feng, together with LSI Professors Fangwei Wang and Bin Zhao, visited Newcastle University in the UK. 

On the first day, the two sides made academic presentations at an "LSI-Newcastle Biomedicine Mini-Symposium". After these reports, Director Xin-Hua Feng and LSI professors conducted thorough discussions with many professors from the Institute for Cell and Molecular Biosciences, the Institute of Cellular Medicine, the Institute of Genetic Medicine, and the Northern Institute for Cancer Research at Newcastle University on a number of research issues and cooperation studies, including a visit to the Newcastle University Protein and Proteome Analysis Centre. They also exchanged views with Prof. Deborah Henderson, Acting Dean for Research and Innovation for the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Prof. Ann Daly, Associate Dean in charge of international affairs, and Prof. Bob Lightowlers, Director of the Institute for Cell and Molecular Biosciences, on further cooperation between LSI and Newcastle University in the field of biological medicine research.

The  Newcastle University side spoke highly of LSI’s outstanding achievements, and expressed their willingness to carry out further cooperation with our institute on scientific research and student training. Both sides agreed to sign a cooperation agreement as a basis for further discussion, and Prof. Fangwei Wang has already secured a Royal Society-NSFC Newton Advanced Fellowship to carry out a three-year collaborative project with Prof. Jonathan Higginsat Newcastle University.
