Dr. Emilie Marcus, CEO of Cell Press and Editor-in-Chief of Cell, visited Zhejiang University (ZJU) on September 25th, 2013 upon the invitation of Prof. Xin-Hua Feng, Director of the Life Sciences Institute.
The event was hosted by Prof. Xin-Hua Feng and was attended by faculties from the Life Sciences Institute (LSI), the College of Life Sciences (CLS), the School of Medicine (SOM) and the College of Animal Sciences (CAS). Prof. Feng introduced the general picture of life science and biomedical research at ZJU to Dr. Marcus. In the following session, recent research progresses were presented by eleven professors including Prof. Ping Wu (Vice President of ZJU, CLS), Prof. Jian-Hong Luo (Vice President of ZJU, SOM), Prof. Shumin Duan (Chinese Academy of Science Member, SOM), Prof. Xin-Hua Feng (Director, LSI), Prof. Jinrong Peng (Dean, CAS), and professors Jun Huang (LSI), Sheng Ye (LSI), Pinglong Xu (LSI), Chao Tong (LSI), Xiaohang Yang (CLS), and Wei Liu (SOM). Dr. Marcus listened to the presentations with interest and raised scientific questions from time to time. She said that she was very impressed by the quality of biomedical research at ZJU and she encouraged more great research works to be submitted to Cell. This activity promoted the top international scientific journal to know the quality of life science and biomedical research at ZJU.
